Brooke No Further Procrastination

  Yesterday morning, I went sailing with my Dad. He said we would leave his place at 9:30 AM and that we would be sailing for 2 hours. We left his place at 11 and had the boat ready in the water by 12:30. We sailed for 6 fucking hours.

  2 hours in, the trampoline on the catamaran ripped and I vomitted over the side (simultaneously, I might add). I had to

sit on the pontoon in the water for the rest of the trip. An hour later the uncontrollable shivering started. After 5 and a half hours of sailing, the buoy we had planned to tie up to drifted away a mere hour before we arrived (it had been there for 2 years). So we tried to land on the sandy part of the beach…

  We missed and crashed the catamaran over a big set of rocks.

  Luckily all three of us were relatively undamaged. I was very lucky that my instincts directed me to remove my legs from where they had been pinned for 3 hours between the pontoon and the trampoline frame. I slipped on the pontoon and fell into the hole in the trampoline and the boat passed over my head. I kept waiting for the pain to start but then I surfaced.

  When my head came out from under the water, there were 6 people pulling the catamaran ashore (upright) and about another 5 with towels, proferring their own sweatshirts and hugs to keep me warm. One was a doctor and checked all of us. They insisted that I go in and take a hot shower to warm up since I was shivering like a chihuahua. While I was in the shower they brought in warm clothes and hot tea. When I came out they tried to get me to blowdry my hair and put some socks on but I resisted. Though they insisted that we eat since they had so much food and everyone else had already eaten. Cheeseburger, cole slaw, beans, and peach cobbler. Oh, don’t forget the fireworks show they insisted we stay for. Nicest family ever and such a great ending to one of the worst days ever.

  Recap: I spent the whole day miserable ending in a crash but the only damage from the whole ordeal was a slight sunburn and I burned my tongue on the tea they gave me.  Oh, and I missed Evan’s and my 5th anniversary. oops.
